Rucchio is a young orphan apparently plagued with bad luck, but who actually has garnered the attention of the immortals – both good and bad. His mother, a fortune teller, had apparently perished in a mysterious fire recently. He has been taken in by the priests of the Basilica di San Gorgio of the Church of Pelor. One of the priests has dubbed him “Dragonfly” because he is always flitting here and there, sometimes hovering at something that catches his interest and then suddenly speeding away. He has shown some conviction with the teachings of Pelor, but his true path lies seeking the meeting of mind, body, and spirit.

There is a argument going on in the priesthood as to whether he should stay. Odd and ominous events have swayed some priests against the young Rucchio. Meanwhile, Rucchio has daily chores and the occasional boxing with staves when one of the groundskeepers gets a moment.
